Each summer, we will host workshops to facilitate curriculum design using a Community of Practice framework.
Participants will work in teams of 3, each comprised of:
- 1 Middle school teacher or staff member
- 1 University faculty member or researcher
- 1 Community agency representative
The purpose of the team based design is to help foster communication between all stakeholders while ensuring that we create a locally relevant and accessible learning program.
Participants will also learn about:
- Community of Practice
- Environmental Justice
- Climate Change
- Innovations in STEM education
- 5E format for curriculum design
Each participant can earn stipend support for attending workshops and designing learning modules to be used in the 7th grade science and social studies curriculum. Travel support is also available.
